As a college student, you should be proud to have successfully endured the college application process. Though you may have put the process behind you, for today's high school students, the stress and pressure that comes with applying to college can make a bright future seem like a distant dream.

Let’s be real – getting through high school is no easy feat. But if you are the first in your family to apply to college or are taking on the college application process alone, high school can be especially challenging.

For the high school student who does not view college as an inevitability, the help of a near-peer mentor can be life-changing

As a mentor, you may help your mentee in a variety of ways including researching and identifying his/her top college choices, helping to prepare his/her applications, and letting he/she know how to effectively transition from high school.

Applicants must:

  • currently attend college in New York City
  • commit to meeting their mentee in person at least four hours a month
  • be eager to help a high school student get accepted to college
